Adding Improvised Armour
to an M4A3
Marine tankers in the Pacific would sometimes add a layer of wooden planks to their tanks, to protect them from magnetic mines. The soon-to-be-released resin-and-plastic M4A2 Sherman will include optional improvised wooden armour pieces in metal.
