Gung-Ho
The US Marine Corps has had a long and proud history, and the Pacific Campaign of 1941 to 1945 was perhaps its finest hour. They were the tip of the American spear, conducting amphibious assaults from Guadalcanal, through the Marshall Islands, Saipan, Tinian and Guam, and ultimately taking the Japanese posessions of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, in preparation to invade mainland Japan itself.

Gung-Ho – US Marine Corps in the Pacific
20mm Twin Mk 4 Anti-aircraft Gun (US548)

The Oerlikon was installed aboard US Navy ships from 1942, where it replaced the M2 Browning machine-gun, which was lacking in range and firepower for an anti-aircraft role. The US Army also used the gun in numerous different configurations and mounts. The Mark 4 mount, simliar to the original Swiss mount design, allowed for mechanical height adjustment via a hand jack for ease of the gunner. The two cylindrical drum magazines each held 60 rounds of ammunition.

Designed by Evan Allen
Painted by Aaron Mathie.

Gung-Ho
Around 1900 the Chinese described Marines in China as gung-ho. In Chinese, gung-ho means working together, as that is what the Chinese saw the American Marines always doing. Gung-ho conveys the Marines’ willingness to tackle any task and their commitment to the Corps.

Marine platoons use the German Mission Tactics special rule (see page 242 of the rulebook).

Semper Fi
Semper fidelis (often shortened to Semper fi) is the motto of the United States Marine Corps. It is a Latin phrase that means ‘always faithful’ or ‘always loyal’.

When Marine platoons test their Motivation to Counterattack in Assaults, you may re-roll the die and apply the re-rolled result to all Marine platoons that failed on the original roll.
