Bagration: Axis Allies
In 1944 Stalin’s Red army is on the attack. While it  throws the Germans out of Byelorussia, it also goes about defeating Germany’s allies; Finland, Romania and Hungary. The Romanians hold off the first Soviet attacks, but a second massive offensive in August 1944 sees them overwelmed. They surrender and swap sides to fight alongside the Soviets. Meanwhile, the Finns also fight for their survival as the Soviets attempt to steamroll them out of the war. They fight the Soviets to a standstill and agree a peace, but are forced to to turn on the Germans. Then three massive Soviet Fronts turn on Hungary, defended by six German and Hungarian armies. The great red sledgehammer is soon swinging, as the Soviets and Romanians launch an assault toward Budapest. Axis armoured forces attempt to stop the encirclement of the city. This savage and bitter struggle will last for 100 gruelling days.

Command Cards are entirely optional and can be added to your force in two ways. You can add them to your normal point cost, just as you would add a unit to your force, or you and your opponent can agree on a set amount of points that each may use just to add Command Cards to your lists.

Many Command Cards are hidden until they are used, so you’re never quite sure what your opponent’s battle plans are until they are revealed. While hidden, Command Cards do not affect their attached unit—a player must reveal them if they wish to gain the benefits of the card. Some Command Cards must be revealed at the start of the game; these cards are used to build your army and have the keyword 'Build'.

Command Card Previews

The Bagration: Romanian command card pack has many of the same Command Cards as other nations like Softskin Transport, Lucky, etc. However, you will also find a great variety of cards for Warriors, Unit and Formation builds, as well as cards that enhance a particular part of your Forces capabilities. You will find plenty of flavourful cards as well to give your force a feel all of its own.

As an example, there are a number of different build cards. Some do simple things like SMG Scouts, which changes the weapons of a Scout Platoon from ZB30 MG & ZB24 rifle teams to Orita SMG teams, giving them a shorter range but higher ROF.

Another Build card is the Mountain Rifle Company that allows you to build a formation of Romania’s elite mountaineers. As well as the formation build card there are four more cards to Build you formation Units. These modify ratings and weapons.

There are also Pioneer, Cavalry, Rifle Company, T-38 Tank Company, Guard Division, and Training Division build cards. These include both Formation and Unit builds like the TAC 938 75mm Anti-tank Guns card that lets you swap your 50mm guns for 75mm guns based on a conversion of the French field gun that the Germans supplied to many of their allies.

There are two Warriors to field with the Hungarians. There is Aurel Sandu fought through 1944 as an infantry sergeant. You can use this Unit Leader with the Motorised Rifle Platoon, or the command card Rifle Company Rifle Platoon. His Unit crosses Minefields better and gives them a Better Tactics rating. He is also rather tough and may reroll his own failed Infantry Save once per turn.

The other Warrior is Ion S. Dumitru a Panzer IV Tank Unit Leader from the 1st, then 2nd Tank Regiments. His unit gets improved Tactics and the Unit leader may reroll one failed roll To Hit each time he shoots his main gun.
