The Italians learned about modern warfare the hard way in 1940. Now they are back, showing the world what the Italian soldier can do. Fighting under the famous ‘Desert Fox’, General Rommel, they form a crucial part of the Italian-German Panzer Army. Tough, determined, skilled, and aggressive veterans, the Italians broke through the British Gazala Line to save the trapped German Afrika Korps, held the line at El Alamein, and opened the way at Kasserine Pass, before holding up the American offensive at El Guettar. Fight or die for the new Roman Empire!

These optional cards include a range of options that can enhance or change your gaming experience by adding new Formations, Upgrades and Warriors, giving you even more choice when building your force.

Many Command cards are hidden until they are used, so you’re never quite sure what your opponent’s battle plans are until they are revealed. While hidden, Command cards do not affect their attached unit—a player must reveal them if they wish to gain the benefits of the card. Some Command cards must be revealed at the start of the game; these cards are used to build your army and have the keyword 'Build'.

Command cards can be added to your force in two ways. You can add them to your normal point cost, just as you would add a Unit to your force, or you and your opponent can agree on a set amount of points that each may use just to add Command cards to their lists.

Legions Of Rome
Some of the best Command Cards are the Build Unit cards. These cards give you brand new options for your existing armies or the option to create whole new formations. The Legions of Rome card is a double sided card that gives you the ability to bring less experienced, but more importantly cheaper troops for your army. Italians are cheap to begin with, so this card adds just more options to your army and is great when need another platoon of artillery or a few more tanks.

This card has so much history behind it, and I love it. It’s a card born from the old Unknown Hero warrior team from previous editions of Flames of War, but here it is again but in its newest form. This card tends to come in right when you need it, creating a unit of truly fearless teams that can shift the flow of the game. This card is activated whenever a unit leader is killed, be it a tank team or an infantry team, so it can pop up anywhere, it’s not guaranteed but if you fail the 4+ roll you will be able to try it again when the next unit leader dies.

Luigi Pascucci
If you know me you know I like having historical warriors in my armies as it gives me a foundation to build my lists. Luigi gives us some really cool rules, first off he gets to roll two dice for his 8 Million Bayonets rolls for each unit in his formation. This is an amazing rule as it effects your whole formation and greatly increases the chance of having elite units.  Luigi gives you two more key rules that makes me like him, first off he can increase your Follow Me movement distance and gives you better Last Stand test. Both help you get your tanks into close combat and staying in the fight.
