Rosiori or Calarasi Platoon
Romanian had available 26 cavalry regiments at the outbreak of war. These were divided into 12 Rosiori Regiments, 13 Calarasi Regiments and a Guard Regiment.
Traditionally the Rosiori had been the regular cavalry while the Calarasi were the territorials. But after the First World War the distinction ended and both types cavalry were organised, equipped and trained the same.
All the Rosiori and 6 Calarasi regiments were organised into brigades, and later into divisions. The other 7 Calarasi regiments were divided among the infantry divisions and higher formations to perform reconnaissance duties.
A 1942 Romanian Infantry Division had squadron of Cavalry attached to divisional recon and a further squadron (3 platoons) attached to the regimental recon battalion.
In Flames Of War
You can field Cavalry Platoons from your recon units as Divisional Support choices for any Romanian company.
The Romanian Cavalry use all the Cavalry rules in the 2nd Edition Flames Of War rulebook.
