Cancon Photo Album with Andrew Haught and Adam Brooker
This year I got to go to Cancon and I was quite excited, not only will I be going to the gaming event but also my first ever trip to Australia. The days leading up to Cancon were a bit nerve-wracking. Those following the news will no doubt have heard of the fires plaguing the region. The fire was also affecting the flights in and out, in fact the airport I was flying to shut down the day before I left. Luckily for me it was reopened the day I flew in.
Cancon itself is massive- three main buildings held the miniature gaming areas as well as stores, with another building housing the card gamers.

For the convention I was running the WWIII: Team Yankee, the only problem being that I got sick on the flight in and almost completely lost my voice. I had a dilemma, and was worried I wasn't going to be able to run the tournament without being able to hold meaningful conversations.
But my worries were unfounded as all the WWIII: Team Yankee players were incredibly laid back and there just to have fun. The three day tournament went by without any major rules arguments. The true sign of a relaxed tournament is when the player who gets first place also wins best sport in a landslide of votes.

I would like to thank the WWIII crew for making running the events so much fun to run, even when I lost my voice. Also thanks to Adam or organizing it all and doing all the leg work, and Sean for driving us everywhere, you two made the whole event possible. ~Andrew
