Dovunque 35 3-ton truck (IT431) Spa Dovunque 35 6 x 4 medium truck Developed in the early 1930s the Dovunque (’go-anywhere’) truck chassis was taken into production in 1933 by FIAT’s Spa division. From 1935/36 it was made with improved design specifications (Dovunque 35), the 1933 model (2-ton capacity Dovunque 33 truck) proving too light and underpowered.

The increase in engine size improved the Dovunque 35 enough to give a 3-ton capacity. It was a 6x4, indicating six wheels and four (the rear) wheel drive. So despite being an off-road truck it wasn’t all-wheel drive.

The new model was made in considerable quantities, primarily as the open tray body. It was one of Italy’s most common off-road capable military trucks. It served in Africa, Italy, the Balkans and Russia.

Dovunque roughly translates into off-road, or go-anywhere. The Dovunque 33, 35 and 41 trucks were Cab Over Engine configuration that allowed a shorter wheelbase for the size of the cargo bed. In the mountainous terrain of Italy and the Balkans this helped mobility on the narrow roads.

Some carried AA guns, others had different bodywork, such as signals vans (radio telemetry) and a APC prototype was also developed. It remained in production until 1948.
