Mark added stowage to his Staghounds

Mark’s New Zealand Armoured Cars

Battlefront Staff 600 point Project...

Mark is our sales manager for New Zealand, Australia, and Asia. His nickname is Donkey, and not because of the contents of his trousers, just watch Shrek!

When we were told that we could design a 600 point lunchtime force I thought to myself  “here’s a chance to do something different”.

Normally I stick to German forces, but this time round I decided to be patriotic and went with a New Zealand Divisional Cavalry Regiment. This unit fought in every area the Kiwi’s were sent. Being that the basis for our 600 points is meant to be late war I decided to design my force during the Italian campaign in 1944. At this point the 2nd Divisional Cavalry Regiment had been refitted with the mighty Staghound Armoured Car. Up until this point I knew very little about the Staghound (Other than it was designed and built by the Americans), but thanks to some quick searching on the internet I found half a dozen sites with lots of information that brought me up to speed. After having a quick ponder and checking the rules for Armoured Car Squadrons in Festung Europa I came up with the list below.

Currently I’m busily adding a ton of stowage and bits to all 10 of my Staghounds in the form of bedrolls, camo netting, water/fuel cans and anything else I can find to make them look like they are well in use and ready for anything.

New Zealand Armoured Car Squadron (Confident Veteran)

Headquarters Platoon
2 Staghound I (75 points)
2 Staghound I (70 points)
New Zealand Platoon (+ 10 points)
Add AAMG (+20 points)

Armoured Car Platoon (140 Points)
2 Staghound I with AAMG
1 Staghound 2 CS with AAMG

Armoured Car Platoon (140 Points)
2 Staghound I with AAMG
1 Staghound 2 CS with AAMG

Total 455 points

(Being Italian Veterans means that I have 465pts to spend rather than 600)

I painted the stowage in different colours, after first doing them the same. I actually prefer this look and will be redoing the stowage on all of my Staghounds (When I get a chance).

For the rest of my force my initial thoughts had been Sherman’s or Wolverines, but after having a chat with Phil I finally decided on a 2 section Rifle platoon with a transport section and 2 sections of Royal Artillery. These choices will be used when we upgrade to 1000 point games (750 points for being Italy Veterans).
