AV-8 Harrier Attack Flight (TUBX12) contains two resin and metal AV-8 Harriers, two plastic flight stands, four rare-earth magnets, and one unit card.
The US Marine Corps adopted the British Hawker-Siddley Harrier, the famed ‘Jump Jet’, in 1971. Designated AV-8, the Harrier is a high performance jet aircraft that is uniquely capable of vertical and short take-off and landing (VSTOL). It does this by swivelling its exhaust nozzles down to allow it to take off vertically.

The United States has the most powerful armed forces in the world. Three army corps stand ready to defend Western Europe from the red horde poised across the Iron Curtain. Armoured troops’ powerful M60 Patton tanks or state of the art M1 or IPM1 Abrams tanks, mechanized infantry mounted in reliable M113 personnel carriers, and light infantry of the 82nd Airborne all stand ready to stop the red tide.

The Marines can operate their Harriers from aircraft carriers as well as light assault ships. Once inland the Harriers operate from forward bases, containing one to four aircraft, located 20 miles (32 km) from the front, while a more established airbase would be located around 50 miles (80 km) from the front. The forward bases allow for a far greater sortie rate and reduced fuel consumption.
Armed with an electrically-powered 30mm Aden 5-chamber revolver cannon and CBU-100 cluster bombs, the Harrier can deal with both air and ground targets.
