Getting The Band Back Together: Chris & Mike at Panzerschreck XII with Chris Townley, Mike Haycock & Evan Allen Panzerschreck XII is almost upon us. Over the weekend of the 20 - 21 July 2013 the oldest Flames Of War tournament will take place. Originally created to test the Flames Of War rules in 2001 in a tournament environment the hosting club, the Manawatu Duellists, decided to keep it going as an annual event within the New Zealand gaming calendar. Over the years it’s changed slightly from a tradition one-on-one competition to the more recent and sociable pairs format of the last few years. It has also been incorporated into the local NICon, or North Island Convention held annually as well in New Zealand. Plenty of veteran Panzerschreck gamers return each year but there are always new faces, sometimes from overseas as well. This year is shaping up to be a biggie with 24 teams involved and also a small WH Fantasy competition joining in for the first time, these things do have a habit of growing when you’re not looking! ~ Evan.

A couple of years ago Mike Haycock and I teamed up and headed down to Panzerschreck for the weekend; we even managed to put in a series of credible results taking out first place. This year we thought we would get the old band back together in an attempt to take back the title. Not wanting to mess with success we have decided to dust off the same armies as last time (although thanks to a couple of minor organisational changes Mike has had to modify his a little), Mike has the tank killing power with a three Konigstigers, and I bring the anti-infantry component of ten Zrínyi assault guns (now with more Breakthrough Gun for adding killing-ness). Wayne and Phil are also joining us in the road trip of some 520km (320 miles) and whilst they won’t be playing Flames Of War, I am sure that we will find some tasks for them (like entering all the results from the games).
