Taranaki Wars 2023

The Return of the Medium Tank - Taranaki Wars 2023 Taranaki Wars 4 -5 August, 2023 TET Multisport Centre, Stratford, Taranaki Mid-War 80 Point Dynamic

There were 16 players for the two-day tournament. The second time the tournament was held at the TET Multisport Centre in Stratford. Missions were pre-selected and attacker defender was determined by which player had the greatest number of points in tanks with 3+ armour and above plus aircraft.  Players could nearly guarantee being the attacker if they wanted to go without infantry. The risk was theirs. With on-site catering, lunches were ordered prior to the start and served up at the lunch break. The licensed bar was available, so if players finished early they could have a beer and a chat with other players. The out-of-towners stayed at Stratford Holiday Park where further catching up was encouraged.

Table standard was very high with Adam Bevin being voted the ‘Best Table’ and Kevin Demchy again winning the ‘Best Painted’. Thank you to those who brought tables and helped with the rule interpretation. A big thank you to Battlefront for their support with prizes. The top three were the same as last year but in a different order with Glenn being the bridesmaid twice. There was some talk of it being rigged………. I don’t believe a word of it. JH
