Fate Of A Nation
The fate of a nation hangs in the balance. Israel cannot lose even a single battle. One defeat would mean the destruction of the tiny Jewish state. Not waiting to be attacked by the Arab forces massing on its borders, Israel strikes first.

Fate Of A Nation
M40 106mm Recoilless (AJO511) The weapon was aimed with the aid of a .50 cal spotting rifle fixed to the top of the barrel. When fired, the trajectory of the round from the spotting rifle was nearly identical to that of the 106mm round. When the spotting round impacted a potential target it gave off a small puff of smoke; allowing the crew to make the any required adjustments before properly engaging the target.

Recoilless Guns
Like all recoilless guns, the M40 106mm recoilless guns had a huge backblast that revealed their position when fired.

M40 106mm recoilless guns use the Recoilless Guns rule on page 119 of the rulebook. This means that the firing team never counts as Concealed when they fire the recoilless gun, and they cannot fire the recoilless gun from buildings or if there is a friendly Infantry team within 2”/5cm behind them.

Spotting Rifles
The crew of the M40 106mm recoilless gun uses a .50 cal spotting rifle to fire single tracer rounds until they hit.

Weapons with Spotting Rifles that did not move do not suffer the +1 to hit penalty when shooting at a platoon with all visible teams more than 16”/40cm away.

Building A Better Gun Pit
During the design process for Fate Of A Nation we spent a lot of time discussing the defensive nature of the UAR and Jordanian forces, and the need to have so many gun pits. We decided to add a small sandbag entrenchment to every gun or mortar that should be in a Gun Pit, to help you and your opponent easily spot them in the heat of battle. You can still put the traditional Gun Pit markers on the table if you want and either way these sandbags look great on the base!
