Tirailleurs Mortar Platoon
with one Command Rifle team, one Observer Rifle team, four 81mm mle 27/31 mortars with crew, one radio
, two Small bases & four Medium bases.
The 81mm mle 27/31 mortar is the basis of every 80-82mm mortar in use in every other army in World War II. These are especially useful in the mountainous regions of Lebanon and Syria where mobility is top priority.

The full four tube platoon is capable of laying down quick and accurate barrages to pin enemy troops. Use them during your assault to pin the enemy and knock out gun teams such as machine-guns, anti-tank guns, and infantry guns.
You can also use them to counter enemy artillery by returning fire after an enemy bombardment or tear up an enemy infantry attack.

The Command & Observer Rifle Team in Flames Of War
The Observer Rifle Team
"Observer teams need a good view of the battlefield in order to do their job correctly. Be sure to deploy them in a position where they have an excellent view of the battlefield such as on a hilltop or on the top floor of a multi-level building."
The 81mm mle 27/31 Teams
(two teams per Mortar section)
"The 81mm mle 27/41 mortar is rated as a Man-packed; therefore it can move up to 6"/15cm in the movement step. This allows them to keep up with the infantry, making them ideal to move forward and support the infantry."
"The 81mm 27/31 mortar has the ability to fire smoke as a Smoke bombardment. Smoke can be used to conceal your units as they advance across the table or to prevent a specific enemy unit from targeting your troops."
"The figures in the Tirailleurs Mortar Platoon can be used to represent French forces during the campaign in France (i.e. Blitzkrieg) or to represent a French force in Burning Empires. You can even mix and match in the Greatcoat figures to add a flavour to your infantry bases."
