Fucilieri Headquarters (IT701)
Company Command teams & 3 Solothurn Anti-tank Rifles
A capitano dei fucilieri has a strong role to play in commanding his company-sized portion of the 8 million bayonets demanded by Mussolini.
As the leader of the company it is up to him to show your men the way. To lead them into danger and out the other side
to victory. His courage and leadership at the critical point on the
battlefield makes the difference between glorious victory and ignoble
defeat. |

Solothurn, S-18/1000 20mm Anti-Tank Rifle
The S18 series of Solothurn weapons were heavy 20mm anti-tank rifles, intended for firing from a bipod or other mount. They were developed at Solothurn, a Swiss subsidiary of Germany’s Rheinmetall, and were never made in Germany or adopted by them.
The main users of the S18 were the Italians, Hungarians and the Swiss themselves.
The S18-100 was the original production model. It had a barrel 900mm in length, and was sometimes referred to as the L/45. The muzzle velocity was approximately 600 meters per second. This gun fired semi-automatically and could use either a 5 or a 10-shot magazine.
The S18-1000 was a redesign of the above gun to increase the muzzle velocity to 850 meters per second. A larger cartridge case was used, and the weight and the length of the weapon were increased. This gun was employed extensively in World War II, particularly by Italy.

The Italians issued it to all branches of their infantry and Fucilieri in particular made good use of it in the desert to defeat the lighter armoured vehicles of the British.
