Containing The Port - Scenario Wayne has written up an exciting new scenario featuring a port assault between a US Marine Amphibious Force and Iranian Defensive Force. Check out the scenario and download the PDFs below. |

The Scenario In times of war high capacity ports, such as container ports, become highly prized objectives. Once captured these ports can be quickly used to bring in reinforcements, equipment, weapons, ammunition and other supplies. Equally, it is in the best interest of the other side of the conflict to prevent such a vital asset falling into the hands of the enemy and to retain it for their own efforts. A large port can sometimes be taken by airborne special forces, by direct amphibious assault, or from the landward direction.
The following scenario offers a game where the attacker has established themselves near the port and is moving out of their bridgehead to secure the main port. Meanwhile, the local defensive forces scramble to defend the port before the attackers move enough of their forces in to hold the facilities. In World War III: Team Yankee this could represent a battle between NATO and Warsaw Pact forces in a number of port cities in West Germany along the North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts, or a Dutch or Belgian port, or a Danish or Swedish port. In the middle east it could be an Iranian Port along the Persian Gulf being assault by the US Marines, or an Israeli attack on a southern Lebanese port.
