Sumpfmuster 43
This camo pattern was first issued to frontline German troops in late 1942, though made its large scale debut throughout 1943.

The Base Coat
Tre begins by base coating the model in Vallejo US Field Drab (873). He then follows this up with a glaze of Chocolate Brown. If you prefer, you can also apply a brown wash instead.

Next, he re-applies US Field Drab (873) leaving the shadows and recesses dark. He then highlights the base colour using a 2:1 mix of US Field Drab (873) and Iraqi Sand (819).

Next, we move onto the camo!

The Camo Pattern
In this step Tre applies green spots in a random pattern.

The base colour for the camo spots is Refractive Green (890), which he then highlights with Luftwaffe Camo Green (823) mixed with Refractive Green (890).

The camo isn't done yet! Finally he adds red brown spots using Cavalry Brown (982), then highlighted with Saddle Brown (940).

Adding highlights to the camo spots is optional if you'd like to save time, however the highlights help brighten up the camo and add extra contrast for the tabletop.
