2024 Asia Pacific GT Report

2024 Asia Pacific GT Report By Chris Townley
Over the past weekend a group of Flames Of War players from Australia, New Zealand and even Japan gathered together at the Australian Armour and Artillery Museum in Cairns, Australia.
The museum is without doubt one of the greatest collections of, you guessed it, armour and artillery in the world, all beautifully restored and sitting safe and sound in a purpose-built facility.
|
| The players were also joined by the team from Aetherworks who helped to organise the event in the lead up to the weekend. Whist the gaming was underway they also spent time with passing visitors to help them understand a little more about Flames Of War and the miniature gaming hobby. |
| We saw a good mix of armies but was safe to say that German light armour was a very popular choice with plenty of 251 halftracks on display. There was still plenty of classic Panzers, Panthers, IS-2s, Cromwells and Stuarts taking to the battlefield alongside everything else. |

The weekend came down to the final round with Julian, Glen and Matthew all pulling out wins to secure the top 3 positions!
We would like to thank everyone that turned up, from the competitors to the team from Aetherworks, as well as Kurtis and the entire team from the Australian Armour and Artillery Museum, who not only let us use their wonderful venue but also donated rides in their restored M3 Halftrack for all of the competitors as well as a trip in their Panzer IV for the winners!

After the prize giving, we all gathered outside to enjoy a close up look at two of the most iconic vehicles from World War 2 tearing around the track…
