Operation Bagration Status Report
(Turn 2)
Comrade Stalin,
Orsha has fallen!
We have seen a week of magnificent successes, just as you planned. The German salient has been sealed and in doing so we have cut the lines of supply to Mogilev. A small group of Fascists are trying to make their escape by driving east towards Krichev. Perhaps they have lost their sense of direction as they are just making their trip to Siberia quicker!
Our British allies had a week of mixed results, repulsing an attack against Dobryna, then counter-attacking and seizing Bykhov. Unfortunately the wayward Fascists then destroyed a small rear guard near Chausy. Closer to the front our gains in Lepel were reversed when a small group of Germans with Soviet equipment managed to surprise the defenders - we will retake Lepel as it is the key to our northern advance towards Minsk.
The marshes in the south continue to slow our progress but our plans for the coming week are focused on Osipovichi and Lyuban. Once we take these two areas, our southern advance on Minsk will only be dependant on the fall of Bobruisk or Mogilev. There are also reports of a heavy Tiger battalion lurking in the woods near Berezino. This must be destroyed in order to secure the flanks of our advance.
