Cossack HQ & Company Dismounted
(SU742)

The Cossacks have always been equally at home on foot as they are on horseback. The earliest Cossacks had their roots in communities of escaped serfs making a new life on the isolated steppes of the Ukraine and Russia.

These early free-spirited communities were poor and only the luckiest warriors had horses.

During the late 19th Century the Russians were the first to recognise the impact of breech-loading firearms on mounted cavalry action and at first their Dragoons (ironically a form of cavalry that started life as mounted infantry) then their other cavalry were trained to fight dismounted when required.

Cossacks in World War II are equally well trained in fighting dismounted where they can make better use of the ground and dig-in if need be.

The Pack contains the dismounted Company HQ, and 2 dismounted Cossack Platoons.
