 M4A1 Sherman

M4A1 Sherman Platoon (UBX02)

The industrial might of US industry produced nearly 50,000 M4 tanks during the war, more than Germany’s total tank production. The Sherman tank saw action across all theatres and contributed greatly to final victory.

The cast-hull M4A1 version was the first into battle. It proved to be tough and hard-hitting and its mobility gave the US Army a decisive advantage over German Panzers in freewheeling battles.

Early production M4A1 Sherman tanks had a narrow gun mantlet (M34 Mantlet).

From the middle of 1943 M4A1 Sherman tanks were fitted with a wide gun
mantlet (M34A1 Mantlet).

As well as all the parts required to make either gun options for your Shermans, the box also includes an extensive decal sheet with numbers and stars to customise each vehicle!

The M4A1 Shermans shown here is painted in the factory standard Olive Drab colour scheme (Sherman Drab (FWP321)). Many Sherman crews from such units as the US 2nd Armored Division, painted earth or black camouflage stripes on their tanks after they arrived in the field.

Models supplied unpainted and require assembly. Scenery, glue and paint not included, contents may vary from those shown.

The Sherman replaced the M3 Lee tanks as the US main battle tank. They offered more protection while gaining a slight advantage in maneuverabilty and speed.

The design proved so successful that the M4 and M4A1 Shermans fought through to the end of the war.

In Flames Of War

Whether your American troops are fighting in the desert heat of North Africa or in the deadly hedgerows of northern France, the M4A1 Sherman is a vital addition to your taskforce.

A platoon of these medium tanks will help your infantry deal with those nasty enemy machine-gun positions as well as confront enemy Panzers!

They have Front armour 6, Side armour 4, and Top armour 1.

The main gun has a Range of 32”/80cm, ROF 2 (with Stabilisers), a respectable  AT 10 and FP 3+. In addition they have Co-ax and Hull MGs to ward off enemy infantry.

A Sherman unit is a great platoon to hold in reserve to help rescue your besieged paratroopers. They will lead the way for your 'Armored Doughs' in their halftracks as you assault the enemy.

No matter the situation, the Sherman tank is a great asset to any American force!
