Gingerbread Of War III Tournament Report
with Mariusz Szkudlarek
That’s it! The weekend has ended; the dust has settled over the battlefield and the winners returned home covered in glory, with prizes in hand. The
Gingerbread Of War III
tournament, an epic two-days struggle for Early-war dominance is over for another year.
Five action packed rounds provided many hours of excitement for the twenty seven participants that travelled to Toruń, Poland, amongst them the entire Polish FoW ETC team. A tenacious struggle quickly ensured for the Gingerbread and other prizes that awaited the winners.
The day one end at 6:00pm; as a ceasefire was announced and the participants gathered around the negotiating table for peace talks at the Jan Olbracht Brewery. There, over a cold beer and a hot meal, the progress of the various armies was discussed. Generals discussed doctrine and defended their tactics as the discussion grew louder as more of the excellent local beer was consumed.
The thunder of guns sounded the start of the second day as the roar of tank engines was drowned out only by the war cries of advancing infantry. When guns finally fell silent for the final time, the points were calculated and Jakub Kowalewski commanding his Gebirgsjägerkompanie was announced the winner. With Bartek Smarsz taking second place and Igor Modelski (a member of the ETC team) finishing third.
We would like to thank all the players for their attendant and for staying behind to clean up afterwards. Thanks also to Battlefront for their support; Wargamer for the prize support and the Jan Olbracht Brewery for their hospitality.
See you all next year!
~ Mariusz.
