Aircraft Colours

Aircraft Paint Colours With the release of our new aircraft range, Wayne has asked me to tap out a brief summary explaining what colours I used to paint them all. So here goes… I started by undercoating with Black (VP950), then giving each a coat of paint darker than its ‘normal’ base colour. I’ll call this the underbase. I then inked all the panel lines with heavily watered down brown paint, before applying the ‘base’ colour with two to three watered down coats.

Finally I applied the camouflage and it’s done… easy!

HURRICANE Underbase-German Camo. Orange Ochre (VP824) Base-Green Ochre (VP914) Camo-Beige Brown (VP875) Underside-Sky Blue (VP961)

Give the nose a coat of Flat Brown, or Saddle Brown before applying Red. (Same for Warhawk)

STUKA Base-German Camo. Dark Green (VP979) Camo-Luftwaffe Camo. Green (VP823) Underside-Pale Grey Blue (VP907)

Yellow is notoriously hard to paint, so paint a sand tone first (Green Ochre or Desert Yellow) before carefully applying Yellow over same area.

SHTURMOVIK Underbase-Russian Green (VP894) Base-Luftwaffe Camo. Green (VP823) Camo-Flat Earth (VP983) Underside-Pale Grey Blue (VP907)

The worn metal effect is quite simple. First Apply German Grey (or any other dark grey) to any edges you want weathered, and then lightly go over this with Oily Steel or Gunmetal Grey.

Painting the scorpion was very, very easy. (Ed ~ It’s a decal!) Notes: Exhaust pipes-Try dry brushing Saddle Brown or Bright Orange (or a mixture of the two) over Black. Jeremy
