2013 Tournament Season
with John Matthews
With 2012 coming to a close, staffing changes and a general “Let’s look at where we are,” we have decided to change it up a bit for 2013 and beyond. We are committed to running a successful tournament schedule for both independent-run events and our own. These will be of many different types, points levels, size, etc, but the most important thing is that we think all tournaments are great; there is no one correct way of doing them.
|
The big thing that we are going to change is the qualification system in
the USA. We are going to go to an open format for participation in our
national events, which will increase to four in 2013: East, West,
Chicago and Texas. We will still be recording results either on Rankings
HQ or on our own site, to make sure all tournaments are equally
relevant.
Prize support will not be changing, except to
increase, and we are always open to requests. So get the tournament
organiser to ask us, as you never know what we might agree to. We plan
to get more events running than ever before not just tournaments but
themed battle events as well. |
|
Our intent here is to make it
easier to organise an event, easier to run said event and to get more
people to more events. I look forward to seeing many of you at events
like Wolfskrieg, Shifting Sands, Bane of War, Showdown at Showcase, Nova
Open, Heat of Battle, Siege of Augusta, Rapier Con and Tacticon, to
name just a few.
I hope this is met with general enthusiasm from
our regular tournament attendees in the USA and obviously it is my
cunning way of trying to get the biggest-attended tournament back in the
States, after the awesome result in Poland and the ETC, which currently
holds the title of most attendees. (Yes, when I’m over the other side
of the pond I'm going to be beating the drum to try to make sure that
does not happen, and the highest is still there LOL)
