Week Four:
Rob Villnave
With the arrival of my reinforcements I now have all of the models I need for my force.
|
With everything now assembled, base coated and appropriate basing
material glued down I can put all of my hobby attention onto a single
platoon at a time until it is finished completely and then move through
the force one unit at a time. The first to receive this attention were
the two platoons of Sherman tanks.

As the easiest and fastest of my platoons to paint I completed this stage in no time. With that said things slowed down quite a bit when it came to the decals. This stage slowed me down immensely because I wanted the Allied stars to be on the top of my turrets. Because of this an extra day was sacrificed to these units beyond what I expected but decals made the models and help distinguish units from “oh those look nice” to “wow those look great”.

Again my plan is to get units done one at a time. And if I have time before the big game I will
go back and add the flare. I currently
plan to add some foliage to the tanks at that step if there is time. As time is
the enemy I must be careful not to become too distracted.

Once the Sherman platoons were finished I tackle the next fastest unit… the carriers. In next weeks update you will see the first four units done. After this comes the Infantry Platoons. As an Infantry Company these should have been the first units I painted.

Below: My 25 pdr battery assembled, sanded and primed. You can see that the guns are sprayed green. I did not glue them to the base so that way I can paint them separately leaving room to paint the infantry figures.
|
But to keep this article interesting by having units done quickly so there is progress, and to keep my sanity, I held off on the Infantry Platoons. Once the Infantry are done it will be time for the Tank Destroyers. And last but not least I will finish off with the Artillery Batteries.
Once again thank you for joining us. Until next time have fun and keep gaming.
