Road to the GT: Wayne Turner
I recently brought myself an airbrush and compressor, so I was quite keen to paint my first army with it. I decided a German armoured force would be ideal for using my airbrush on.
|
|
After working on the Schwere Panzerregiment Bäke briefing with Scott Elaurant I was eager to use this to make my force.
Schwere Panzerregiment Bäke did most of its fighting in the early winter months of 1944.

However, I wanted to just field the tanks in
standard German three-colour camouflage, so I decide to field them at
the end of March by making the assumption that they had been repainted
ready for the spring fighting. Plus I wasn’t quite psychologically ready for a
white-washed army; I’m saving that for some Estonians for next year or
Panzerschreck.

I’ve completed my seven Panther A tanks, but had a minor stuff-up with the varnish as you may notice in the photographs. I plan to fix this with some light washes of black and middlestone in the Zimmerit cracks where the matt varnish has pooled and gone opaque. I’m just using a Gebirgsjäger Platoon from my Gebirgsjäger company.

The Armoured cars have to be completed, as do the tank commanders.
