Steyr Kfz 70 Truck (GE426) Steyr 270 (Steyr 274) - Steyr 1500A From 1942 to 1944 the Steyr works were the third biggest truck manufacturer for the German war effort (after OPEL and Mercedes).

In 1940 Steyr were asked to build a passenger car (Steyr 220) and a 1.5 ton truck. In mid 1941 the first prototype appeared. It was all-wheel-drive with a Porsche Type 145 3.5 ltr-V8, air-cooled engine. It’s top speed was 90 km/h and could achieve 100 km per 24 litres of petrol (on road).

It was also made as a Command Car and Van suitable for radio and medical duties. It was used as both a Kfz 70 Troop carrier and a light tow vehicle. From September 1942 until March 1944 12,450 Steyr 1500A left the Steyr works gate.     Designed and Painted by Evan Allen
