Stalinets Tractor (SU273) STZ-5 (STZ-NATI-2TV) tractor [#2] The Stalinets artillery tractor was one of the  main artillery transporters for the Red Army at the beginning of the war. Initially most Soviet artillery tractors were derivatives of agricultural types, though some were purpose built designs based on older tank models.

The STZ-5 was a development of the simple fully-tracked agricultural tractor (STZ-2 and 3), with the drivers compartment moved forward so that the cab sat above the engine to allow the rear of the vehicle to be utilised for cargo. It was used to tow anything from Zis-2 and Zis-3 guns to 122mm Howitzers.
