Warstore Weekend 2013

Warstore Weekend 2013 Mid-War Monster Tournament

By Davd Griffin

Is that Paw Paw I see??

It’s that time of year again, the temperature plummets, the leaves change colors and the Warstore holds their annual Warstore Weekend convention . This year Battlefront decided to run a 1675 point Mid-War Tournament with Mid-War monsters allowed. 19 brave hobbyists arrived on the scene to test their mettle and claim First Prize. We were sandwiched between the Warhammer Fantasy tournament and the 40K tournament, but we held our ground, refusing to lose any tables to them.

Three grueling rounds were played on Saturday : Dust Up, Counter-attack and Pincer.  The allies took a strong lead on the first day led by Kim Skov’s Strelkovy and Joe DiCarlo’s  Canadian Infantry Tank Army.

Thomas Mullane drives his forces forwards, unfortunately they could not carry the day this game.

Jerry Lane’s TOG’s take up position to repel a German attack.

A brave, lone (and slightly insane) Panzer II holds the line against two British platoons. Scarily enough he was successful!

Allan Kaplan’s Soviets advance to contact.

The Axis came back a bit on Sunday as Breakthrough and Hold the Line were played. Some interesting happenings:

Much to the awe of the German defenders, levitating Churchills joined the fight.

Kim’s Strelkovy were finally stopped in the last scenario by the well-placed defensive fire of Al Edel’s Panzergrenadiers.
Once the smoke cleared and the results were tallied, the following people were awarded:
It's Paw Paw!
