Panzerschreck 2012:
Winners & Results
Held 7-8 July 2012, Riverdale School Hall, Slacks Road, Palmerston North, New Zealand.
Panzerschreck XI (2012) has been and gone again for this year and it was, as always, a great gaming experience. With 16 teams of friendly and positive participants the weekend flew by all too soon.

One of the aspects we like to keep as the hosting club is to choose our own individual winner for the Best Army award rather than rely on the tournament software system, and each year it just gets more difficult to pick as the standards of painting and modeling keep rising. Another innovation this year, well actually a continuation from last years tenth anniversary Panzerschreck, was to include as a now regular feature a BBQ dinner for all at the end of the first day. After three hectic rounds of battle it’s nice to be able to unwind with a bite to eat and take stock of the day and, of course, carry out those ever so important Battlefield post mortems. |

This year we kept the doubles theme but with a Mid-war choice using the new V3 rules. We haven’t decided on next years program so feel free to give feedback on what you’d like to see. The five rounds of gaming were trouble free which is a testament to the new rules version, the biggest issue was people getting caught out by their memories defaulting back to the V2 rules on occasion, old habits are hard to break! There was a good mix of “old hands” and complete “newbies” as usual so please think about coming along next year if you haven’t been to one. There was also a well supported Crimean “Black Powder” game to add a bit of colour to the event as well, each year there is something extra so fell free to ask about that as well.

Finally, Tom, Derek and I would really like to thank Battlefront and Conflict Distribution for their prize support and everyone who attended for their positive contributions to the event and the friendly atmosphere which is what we try to create the platform for – good gaming everyone and see you next year. |
