Week Five:
Rob Villnave
This week I am happy to show you that platoons are being finished. In this weeks update I have two Sherman platoons finished. At this stage I am very happy with these two platoons. I am also very happy to now be working on the main body of the army….My infantry!
Below:
My first platoon of Sherman Vs and a Firefly.
The thing I was most excited about when finishing these two platoons came about when I sprayed them with my matte finish I did not get my typical result. What normally happens to me despite my best intentions and effort is the matte finish causes a crinkling effect on my models. I have come to learn to spray three to four very light layers on to my models. Perhaps now the patience is paying off.
Below:
Another shot of my first platoon of Sherman V’s and a Firefly.
My hope by the end of this project I will have the time to go back to these little beauties and add on some foliage. I have been inspired by some recent articles in Wargames Illustrated and on the Flames Of War website concerning camouflage. I just think that little extra effort not only makes models go up in WOW Factor but also helps cover up… er, um… errors shale I say.
Below:
My second platoon of Sherman Vs and a Firefly. Note the star on the front of the hull. I did this to distinguish one platoon from the other.
Thank you again for taking a few minutes from your day. I hope next week we will begin to see the army it self taking form.
~ Rob.
