Cavalry Recon Platoon (US304)
|
Cavalry Recon Platoon (US304) includes one M8 Greyhound Armored Car & two Recon Jeeps. The freshly arrived 14th Cavalry Group’s armoured cars, Stuart light tanks, and assault guns were all that stood in the way of the Germans at the Losheim Gap. They fought hard, but were eventually overrun. They then returned to the battle in support of the 7th Armored Division and by the end of the year they had received some of the new M24 Chaffee light tanks. The Battle of the Bulge In December 1944 the German forces were supposed to be on the back foot, so their desperate push in the Ardennes took the Allies by surprise. Desperate defence by the American and British Commonwealth forces gradually turned to counterattack as they fought to erase the 'Bulge'.
