The Longest Day
The Longest Day By Justin Rodriguez August 31 - September 1, Hilton LAX, 5711 Century Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045 United States The Longest Day event was realized by diabolical gaming genius and Flames Of War guru Kevin Morris. Kevin and I were enjoying a late evening chat in the main gaming hall at the February 2019 Strategicon gaming convention in Los Angeles, California, about what Flames Of War events to host for the remainder of the year.
Kevin looked across the massive space and asked me what time the hall would close for the evening. I replied that it did not close and that one could possibly game for 24 hours straight if they truly wanted to.
So why not try to play Flames Of War for 24 hours straight? One full day of Flames Of War. As we were discussing new ways to play Flames Of War, I thought this kooky idea would be great to try. We had decided on an Iron Man event.
Who had the stamina and fortitude to play 8 straight games back-to-back with minimal breaks in between the matches? We were determined to find out. Soon thereafter, fellow Flames Of War aficionado and tactician Igor Torgesson was on board to help make this tournament a reality.
He decided on the very accurate event name “The Longest Day” and created a wonderful poster based on the movie of the same name and shared it with our local Southern California Flames Of War facebook group along with the details of the event.
This event was designed to be bonkers; a fun and silly way to enjoy playing Flames Of War. The event will include whacky awards and prizes, such as the Rip Van Winkle award, going to the first person who falls asleep during a match, and coffee mugs as a reminder of the madness.
