Panzerschreck: A Day At the National Army Museum
Each year members of the Battlefront Studio team head down to Panzerschreck, one of ouir favourite events of the gaming year. Each year we stop on the way at the National Army Museum in Waiouru as it is a great chance to touch history and stretch our legs.
Before heading down this year we got in touch with some of the team at the Museum, explained our obvious passion for history and of course the New Zealand Army.
The Museum team were kind enough to take us behind the scenes to have a look at some of the amazing vehicles, guns and other pieces of New Zealand Army history, ranging from General Freyberg's Stuart Honey tank to ‘Te Rau Aroha' - the 28 Maori Battalion Food Truck that followed the Battalion through North Africa and Italy. These pieces provide an amazing link for the soldiers of today to those who fought for the country in the past.
We would like to thanks Grant, one of the Curators of the museum (you might see him in a number of the photos) for taking around part of the collection and sharing the history of the pieces. We are already looking forward to next years trip to Palmerston North to see what else they have "hiding out the back".
