D-Day: WWPD Operation Overlord D-Day & WWPD Operation Overlord
with Steve MacLauchlan

World history has been changed forever at the end of WWPD's Operation Overlord! The Axis have secured a narrow victory in Normandy and all of France. The Allies were thwarted at the final hurdle. Cherbourg and St-Lo proved were too heavily defended, and remained just out of reach. Though the allies made solid gains in the countryside, two of the three objective cities' defenses were just too hard to crack.
Thanks to everyone who participated in Operation Overlord! 480 battles were reported, many of which were big multiplayer affairs. 3,361 total victory points spread across 880 players in more than 50 countries. The most fought over zone was Le Molay Littry with 33 battles (and was held by the axis in the end). The most "conquered" allied zone was Carentan with a disparity of 35 victory points in the allies' favor. The most "defended" zone was St. Lo with a disparity of 54 victory points in favor of the axis. Overall the allies had slightly more victory points than the axis, but the difference was slight.
The bulk of the allies' surplus in Victory Points was achieved on the beaches, where the allies largely dominated. Thereafter the Germans fought hard. The Allies did see major victories, though most were achieved in the countryside, and not the victory zones. We hope everyone had fun with the campaign, and took the opportunity to play some games that make a difference in a grander sense! We'll definitely be doing this again, so sound off and let us know how we can improve the experience!

This week we push 'em back with a focus on the German counterattacks immediately following the Allied landings. 21. Panzerdivision leads the charge with convert converted "French" StuG Batterie. This week we take a wild ride with the famed German Tiger Ace Michael Wittmann. We also head into Villers-Bocage, a town on the road to Caen. If the Germans can stop the British here their entire advance will be threatened.

We breakout this week with Operation Cobra and follow the fortunes of the American tankers assigned with the task of breaking out of the Normandy beachhead and the elite units of the Waffen-SS who’s task it is to stop them.

We hit the ground running this week as we take a look at the American and British Para forces that helped to pave the way into Normandy, as well as their German counterparts that tried to stem the tide.

It's time to declare Total War on the enemy as we provide the rules and missions along with some useful tips for playing Flames Of War with larger forces.
