BP44 Armoured Train Artillery Car (GBX63) includes one Armoured Artillery Car.
With captured Polish and Russian trains as templates the Germans went about creating a standard model of armoured train in 1941. This was known as the BP42, and with later additions, the BP44. These new trains borrowed from the captured designs’ increased artillery capability over the existing German trains. They also overcame some of the perceived design flaws in the captured trains by splitting the artillery car in two, leaving only one gun on each car and thereby reducing loss of firepower if an artillery car was knocked out. Modern anti-aircraft guns and tank-hunter cars were also added making a formidable self-contained fighting unit.

The main function of an armoured train is to provide heavy fire support for other troops using its Artillery Cars. Equipped with a 10.5cm howitzer and a significant amount of ammunition they are able to lay down a considerable bombardment, as well as providing the train with additional defences from tanks and other armoured vehicles that may stray into the firing line. The BP44 Armoured Train can also include the Tank Hunter Cars and of course needs some train track in order to move. Learn more about the Tank Hunter Cars here... "The 10.5cm leFH18/40 howitzer has the ability to fire Smoke in either direct fire or as a Smoke bombardment. Smoke can be used to conceal your units as they advance across the table or to prevent a specific enemy unit from targeting your troops." |

Breakthrough Gun Some weapons are just so powerful that there is no chance of surviving a hit from them. These heavy guns are often mounted in tanks and self-propelled guns designed to break through enemy defensive lines. Infantry teams, Gun teams, and Unarmoured vehicles automatically fail their Saves when hit by a Breakthrough Gun or a Bunker Buster. This does not apply to Artillery Bombardments. |

"The Armoured Artillery car has Protected ammo; this means crews are more willing to remount a Bailed Out vehicle." Vehicles with protected ammo re-roll all failed motivation tests to remount Bailed Out vehicles in the Starting Step. |

"The predictable movement of a train allows it to fire a bombardment on the move. The huge stocks of ready ammunition mean, they can do so at a very high rate of fire." |
