T-38 Scout Tank Company (SBX27)

T-38 Scout Tank Company (SBX27) T-38 Scout Tank Company (SBX27)
includes five T-38 tanks & one Tank Commander sprue.

The T-38 was a further improvement on the earlier T-37 design which itself was based on the French AMR33 light tank. Cheap the produce, the T-38 was powered by a GAZ (Gorkovsky Avtomobilny Zavod) engine and pushed along in the water via a propeller mounted on the rear of the vehicle. Buoyancy was achieved by the T-38’s large volume hull.

Rising Sun
Rising Sun brings you into the Soviet Union’s wars with the Japanese and Finns on its borders in 1939. Take command of the Red Army’s tank forces, infantry or cavalry forces as you throw the Japanese back into Manchuria or fight the stubborn Finns to expand the Soviet border.

Rising Sun
T-38 Scout Tank Company (SBX27) Due to its low silhouette, superb mobility and amphibious nature, the T-38 was intended for use as a reconnaissance vehicle. However, the lack of a radio severely limited its effectiveness when reconnoitring the battlefield. Worst still, its thin armour and single machine-gun meant the T-38 lacked the protection and firepower necessary to fight its way out of any sticky situations it found itself in.  This was further reinforced during the Winter War as the confined terrain of Finland meant to T-38 was nothing more than a death-trap for its two-man crew.
It fared no better against the Germans during the opening stages of Operation Barbarossa and unlike Soviet vehicles that fell into German hands, the T-38 was not turned against its former owners.  Despite these limitations around 1300 were built before plans were drawn up to replace it with the T-40. This however was short lived as the pressure of wartime production meant only a handful of T-40s were ever built.

Amphibious
Amphibious vehicles are designed to swim, carrying their passengers across rivers or lakes.

Amphibious vehicles treat all Impassable water terrain as Difficult Going instead of Impassable. If Passengers are forced to Dismount for any reason while in Impassable water, they drown and count as Destroyed.

Limited Vision
In order to pack more into small tanks, some tank designers reduced the crew to a minimum and severely
limited the number of vision devices. Thus, the tanks require the commander to operate as a somewhat vision-impaired gunner as well.

Tanks with Limited Vision add +1 to the score required to hit when shooting any weapon except an AA MG at
targets that are entirely behind a line drawn across the front of the tank’s turret before they rotate their turret to face the target.

Tanks with Limited Vision must rotate their turret to point straight ahead when they move.

Unreliable
Whether poorly designed, unsuitable for the conditions, or requiring more maintenance than current supply considerations will allow, these vehicles have a significant chance of breakdown when pushed too hard.

If an Unreliable vehicle attempts to move At the Double, roll a die. On a roll of 1 the vehicle becomes Bogged Down.
