While perhaps not as effective as ‘real’ artillery the Parachute Mortar Platoon lands amongst the rest of the paratroops and is in action for hours before the big boys have even reached the beachs.
At the commander’s discretion the mortar teams can be replaced with Vickers HMGs (use BR804), purpose designed to provide overwhelming firepower in either attack or defence.
The HMG teams of this platoon never have as much ammunition as they would like and may not fire artillery bombardments.
With 6 tubes the Airlanding Mortar Platoon can be even more effective than the equivalent unit of their parachuting friends.
Landing by glider, the platoon is quickly ready for action, providing the company with its own integral, highly mobile and accurate light artillery asset.
Up to three observer teams are also available to spot any likely targets giving further support to your company when attacking or protection when defending.

This reliable weapon is always at the ready, and being a Man-packed gun the crew can easily keep pace with the rest of the company. The ML 3" Mk II mortar has a range of 40"/100cm, AT 2 and FP 6. It can fire Smoke Bombardments.
