4th Edition Boot Camp

Boot Camp is your introduction to 4th Edition and the exciting world of Flames Of War, the world’s most popular World War II miniatures game.

Phil and James go over the Quick Start guide from pages 2-9 of the rulebook.

Phil and James talk about the movement rules, including Movement Orders, which let clever commanders take advantage of the tactical situation as it unfolds.
The Shooting Step is when your units try to destroy the enemy with deadly accurate fire. In this video, Phil and James talk about rolling to hit, assigning hits, and rolling saves.
Assaults are fast, bloody and decisive. This video covers the Assault Step, in which your troops get up close and personal with the enemy.

Artillery is similar to normal shooting, except instead of firing straight at the enemy, you can bombard a whole area, even if your guns can't see it directly. This video also covers what happens when your air support arrives to harass your unfortunate foes.
Most soldiers fight bravely, but everyone has their limit. If your units take too enough casualties from shooting or assaults, eventually they might retreat or give up, putting them out of the battle. In this video, Phil and James talk about Morale, the Starting Step and Last Stand tests.
Choosing which units to take in your force is an important part of the game. In this video, Phil describes how to build your force in 4th Edition and gives a demonstration by creating a small but effective Desert Rats army.

To cap off the Boot Camp experience, Phil and James put the lessons from the previous videos into practice, playing a 62-point game using the Free For All mission.
Wayne and Phil take a look at some of the rules you have to be aware of when creating an Early or Late-war Flames Of War 4th Edition force from the Early and Late-war intelligence handbooks and briefings.
