Open Fire! Tournament With NORCAL Flames Of War The NORCAL Flames Of War Club had another great event this month at the Pacificon gaming convention in Santa Clara.

After a marathon Open Fire! demonstration gaming day on Saturday generating a ton of interest, we had 22 participants, including three players who had no prior experience with Flames Of War, as well as another 10 'lapsed' players who strayed away from the game for some time but were eager to return. Some of the newer players were paired with a NORCAL veteran to keep the games going smoothly.The event was centered on the new, streamlined Open Fire! rules set and utilized the three missions outlined in the new box set. The streamlined rules were greatly appreciated by the new and lapsed players, as well as our veterans. Due to incredible prize support offered by David Griffin at Battlefront HQ in the US, everyone went home with new kits to expand on current and new army projects.

Congratulations to Keith Marquez, the overall top general as the only player to go 3-0. Michael Timpe, Michael Rabaca and Dustin Harnois tied as the top point-earners and respective top generals of their side. Steven Bean and Andre Feliz were the only players to stop the V-1 Rocket Launch in the Doodlebug scenario. A big shout-out to all the first-time players and the folks who had drifted away from the game, to be brought back by this event. I hope the enthusiasm continues as we have another great event next month at Oakland's Endgame gaming shop.
