Players: 16 players will be invited to the Masters. The Champion of each of the Nationals and the previous defending Masters Champion will have automatic places reserved. The remaining places will be filled according to standings on Rankings HQ as of 2 October 2016. If a player declines or does not send a confirmation within a week of the invitation, the invitation will be extended to the next person on the rankings board.  Invitations will be extended down to the 30th place (doubtful that will happen).

Tournament Points: 1000-2000

Special Rules

  • Players will be given 15 minutes to create armies based on the points level announced, but will not know the opponent or mission when creating the army. Armies must be of the same nationality throughout the tournament, but need not be of the same type or book: i.e. a German player may play heavy tanks in round 1 but fortified in round 2, SS mechanized in round 3, panzer in rounds 4, 5 and fallshirmjager in round 6.
  • There will be no proxies allowed.
  • Mid War monsters are on the field.
  • Alternate Battlefield Conditions may be announced prior to game start but after armies have been decided.

Army Lists: Players will design their army lists using the following guidelines and restrictions:

  1. Select a Nation to be played throughout the full six rounds
  2. Each round the army may change according to what the players wish to play.

List usage: This is a random-points tournament. Players will be notified of the points of the next round once all games of the previous round have handed in their scoresheets. They will have a minimum of 15 minutes to create their army to the announced points level before showing to the T.O. the completed army form for points check.

Missions: Each round a randomly selected mission will be determined prior to the start of the round.  Once a mission is selected, the chit will be removed and it will not be used for the rest of the tournament.  In essence, you will play six different missions but you will not know which missions they will be until the beginning of the round.

Rules and Regulations

  • This is the Masters, some of the finest players in our hobby collected into one place. Good Sportsmanship does not need to be mentioned as you all have experienced both National-level and local-level events and know what is expected of you.
  • Rule interpretations will be strictly according to the V3 rulebook and LFTF. The T.O. will be tired, angry and stressed; be forewarned about questions everyone knows.
  • You are as professional as players can get in our hobby. Slow play will be handled thusly: 1st complaint – T.O. sets up shop at your table and stares at you; 2nd verified complaint – 1 point is deducted from your score; 3rd verified complaint – forfeiture of current game at a 1-6 loss.
  • This is Masters, all armies must be fully painted. Any miniatures not fully painted shall not be on the table during the tournament.
  • Rounds will be determined by Swiss system – come ready to play all armies.
  • Missions will be selected randomly immediately before each round as per rules above.
  • Players are responsible for monitoring the time and the judges will announce time intervals throughout the tournament. A true act of sportsmanship is not starting a new turn if both players will not be able to finish that turn. The game should be called if both players cannot finish their turn and the results should be calculated.
  • When time is called the game must immediately end regardless of the action taking place in the game. New turns cannot be started even if starting a new turn would award an immediate victory or cause a player to make a company morale check.
  • If two fortified companies face each other then they will play the No Man's Land Mission.
  • Unit histories are not necessary.
  • Please refer to the following list of books for legal armies:
  •              Any Mid War Hardcover Book or valid .PDF.

Tournament Scoring

We will be using a simple software spreadsheet and here is the scoring breakdown we will use for the 2015 Nationals:

    • Generalship: 100%.
  • Draw Match-ups Ranking.
  • Victory Points then Wins.

Tiebreakers: In case of a tie all tiebreakers use the following order to determine a winner

  1. Generalship.
  2. Number of wins (6-1, 5-2, 4-3).
  3. Strength of schedule.
  4. Rock, scissors, paper (Best 2 out of 3)!
