Casablanca Conference 2016 Casablanca Conference, Unconditional Surrender is the first of four events we hope to hold each year. There are a few things we did that we think make our event's special, we gave every single participant a folder which included the Lessons from the front as well as quick layout diagrams of the 6 FOW missions so that they may easily reference them, the event specific rules we are using, and the general Blitz and Peaces event rules such as etiquette expected of players and such. Every player is also provided a tray to be used by them for the duration of the tournament for their armys. we did restrict the players to the first 6 books of LW to balance things out and allow some big cats on to the table as per history before tech caught up and they got thoroughly trounced.

In terms of prizes, we also decided to up the game by giving not only vouchers and freebies but also Patches that can be ironed on to the FOW bag made by battlefoam.

The victorian cross was given to the champion, the order of the british empire was given to best painted, the order of lenin for best sportsman and the purple heart for the person who lost three games and we thought took the worse beating (whether by draw or by score). All patches are iron on except for the Purple heart which is a velcro to be attached to the bag soft velcro patch until the next tournament where it is passed on to the next "winner". The deployment zone marker there is for TOs to mark out deployment zones so there are no disputes about such things. The matt behind was a cigar box battle mat and was given to the first place since we had a great turnout. 2nd and 3rd place recieved a Objective marker each and 2nd also got a box of M4A3 Shermans.

This was the central table as we begun the day.

We also used the Death clock which works like a chess clock so that all players have an equal amount of the allocated time for each match and dragging your feet as the defender would not help you. It works exactly like the chess clock.

This was one russian horde against Panzer Lehr.

Casablanca Conference 2016

Everyone takes a photo before the blood letting begin. Axis on the left and allies on the right.

Casablanca Conference 2016

We did record the total VP of both axis and allies. Allied won an overwhelming victory at days end with 115 - 69 VP. We also did secret objectives for every player to use once per tournament that could give them a single VP. Objectives ranged from defending your 1 IC, to capturing an enemy tank in assault to preserving your divisional support choices. The reason we recorded the VP was for it to have a lasting effect on the next community event which is DDay. The allies won, so they would get 350 points worth of gliders, had the axis won, they would have gotten a free shore battery worth 350 points. this keeps things interesting for all players even if not in the running for champion.

It was Blitz and Peaces first event and we think everyone was impressed by how we changed things up. Our next tournament will be in Q2 and should be LLW. Restriction of books is great to forces players out of their comfort zone. I will be sending over a prize support query once they have spent their vouchers.
