2014 Tanksgiving Mega-Battle 2014 Tanksgiving Mega-Battle:
A Huge Success!
with Bill Dickson
Lincoln, Neb. – The 2014 edition of Tanksgiving is once more in the books. Held at Gauntlet Games in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA on 29 November, the event was a huge success. Players from all over the Midwest and Great Plains came to Lincoln to take part in the largest Flames Of War mega-battle in the history of the event.

A total of twenty players took part with each player fielding a 2000-point Mid-war Tank Company. Three objectives were laid out on each side of the table; two on the flanks and one in the center. A Victory Point was awarded to each side for every platoon that was routed or destroyed and another point for the any captured objectives. Once the dust had settled, the Axis side had defeated the Allies be a final score of 54 - 25.

The battle lasted for six action-packed turns and while the Allies were able to keep pace with the Axis forces early on, the fortunes of war begun to favor in the latter turns and they to pull away their Allied counterparts. Despite the outcome, everyone had a great time especially and who could blame them on a battlefield five 6’ x 4’ tables in length and featuring over two thousand models!

Organiser Hobie Rupe said, “This is the biggest Tanksgiving battle we’ve had since we started. It continues to grow every year.”
The organisers and owners of Gauntlet Games would like to say thank you to all who played and came out to support the event.
