7.5cm IG37 Gun (GE509)

7.5cm IG37 Gun (GE509) includes two 7.5cm IG37 guns with crew, one Command SMG team, one Observer Rifle team, one Small three-hole base, one Small two-hole base & two Medium bases. Introduced in 1944, the 7.5cm Infanteriegeschütz (meaning Infantry Gun or IG for short) 37 was based on the gun carriage of 3.7cm PaK36 anti-tank gun which by this late stage of the war was effectually redundant. The gun was originally designated the 7.5cm PaK37, however this caused confusion since the weapon’s primary role was not intended as a anti-tank gun. While the gun carriage was an old design, the gun itself was a new design created by Krupp; though the design had been shelved at the time of its conception. The gun had two distinctive features; first was the large four-baffle muzzle brake and the second was the vertical sliding block breech that was considered unusual for a Krupp designed gun. The breech operated in a semi-automatic fashion; once the gun was fired the breechblock would open and eject the spent casing and remained open to allow for rapid reloading. The breech would then closed once the next round was loaded and was ready to fire. The first 84 guns were delivered in June 1944 and a total 1304 guns were built by the end of the war. Observer teams need a good view of the battlefield in order to do their job correctly. Be sure to deploy them in a position where they have an excellent view of the battlefield such as on a hilltop or on the top floor of a multi-level building.

Gun Shields Manning a gun in the thick of battle is a hazardous job. To offset the increased vulnerability of gun crews to enemy fire, many guns have a bulletproof gun shield. Gun Shields provide your Gun teams with Bulletproof Cover from shots fired from in front of a line drawn across the front of the team’s base. Shots fired from behind this line hit the unprotected crew behind the shield. Gun Shields do not provide cover to teams moving At the Double, nor from artillery bombardments.

Smoke Sometimes your weapons won’t destroy the enemy quickly enough to prevent them from wreaking havoc on your own troops first. One way to protect your troops in the meanwhile is to fire smoke at the enemy to temporarily impair their vision. Only weapons listed as having the Smoke attribute in their Arsenal may fire smoke. Some weapons can also fire Smoke Bombardments (see page 136 of the main rulebook).

Assembling the Gun Crew Each 7.5cm IG37 gun has a four-man crew; simply arrange the one of each crew figure type to taste around each gun.

Assembling the 7.5cm IG37 Gun

Step 1. Begin by attaching the wheels to the gun trail.		Step 2. Next, attach the 7.5cm gun barrel.

Step 3. Finally, slide the gun shield into place.	Step 4. With the gun shield in place, the 7.5cm IG37 is ready for painting.
