Week Four: Dave Griffin

Week Four: Dave Griffin It’s been a busy week here for me. I finished up basing the second platoon and finally tipped over the half-way point.

Right: My 8.8cm FlaK36 command team finally reports in for duty, this will finish that platoon.

Below: My snipers get extra attention being special units; I like to show them doing their stuff.

I made a sniper hide for the left team using a small piece of twig as a log, painted gauze as camo netting and some clump foliage. I try to show them crouching behind bushes and using their terrain to hide, gluing a little of the base flock to their helmets help them blend better.

Below: My Second platoon is complete, sealed and ready to fight.

I like to mark my units on the back edge in my armies to cut down on confusion if the platoons mix together on the table. I use blue for infantry platoons, utilising hash marks to denote their platoon designation. Artillery with get red, scouts get green, snipers will get black, mortars get yellow, etc.

I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now as the Pioneers are getting based and the artillery is on the painting board.  The Pioneers took the longest because they have been the largest platoon at ten bases.

The 10.5s went together very quickly being smaller and fewer teams, what will take the time are the pre-sculpted bases.  I dread painting these, although I really like how they look once completed.  But they are the last, so I’ll bite the bullet and work on them this week and hopefully get them done over the weekend. ~ Dave.
