Armored Rifle Platoon
|
Armored Rifle Platoon (UBX01) and
Armoured Rifle Platoon (US733)
UBX01 contains a complete Armored Rifle Platoon
US733 contains the infantry teams of an Armored Rifle Platoon (half-tracks and 37mm gun not included)
Armored Rifle Platoons have more weaponry than any other infantry platoon during the war. As well as two .50 cal and five .30 cal machine-guns, they have a 37mm anti-tank gun, a 60mm mortar and four bazookas, rifles, carbines and submachine-guns.
|
Armored Rifle Platoon (UBX01) has been replaced by Armored Rifle Platoon (UBX41)
|
|
That doesn’t count the fifty semi-automatic rifles, carbines and submachine-guns carried as personal weapons.

|
UBX01
Included:
• 5x Individually Sculpted M3 half-tracks
• 1x Command team
• 5x Rifle teams

• 1x 60mm mortar team
• 5x Bazooka teams
• 1x M3 37mm gun
• 1x Decal sheet
• US Half-track crew |
Actual miniature pose mix may vary from those shown.
The five half-tracks are individually sculpted, with one containing the 60mm mortar as part of the model to easily identify it during play. It also makes it easier to identify whatever vehicle you decide to make your command.
|
|
|
The five M3 Halftracks come complete with optional parts for use in Mid and Late war. For late war fit the cupola for the AA MG, for mid war leave the cupola off. The winch is fitted to the command M3 half-track and the rollers are fitted to the other four M3 half-tracks.
You can combine two of these boxes with the UBX02 M4A1 Sherman tank Platoon box to create the core of a late or mid war force.
|
|
UBX01 and the Armoured Rifle Company Headquarters will be the first to packs to feature the new plastic parts for the M3 half-track range.
As you can see it comes with all the parts that use to be metal except for the crew.

guns. But if you all ready have the half-tracks the US733 pack it the
way to go.
Uniforms
You may have noticed James has painted these in camouflage.
|
The 41st Armored Infantry Regiment and 17th
Armored Engineer Battalion of the 2nd Armored Division and the infantry
of the 30th Infantry Division were all issued new camouflage uniforms
prior to D-Day. These uniforms are more famous for their use by
the US Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre and were undergoing their
first trials in Europe. |
|
|
While the uniform generally worked well, it had one major drawback—other American troops had learned to assume that anyone wearing camouflage was a German soldier. Unfortunately, this led to a lot of ‘friendly fire’ casualties.
Most troops stopped wearing the camouflage uniform soon after the Falaise Pocket was destroyed.

In Flames Of War
As well as being able to use both these packs to represent Armored Rifle Platoons in Afrika (page 161) and Festung Europa (page 94), these two packs become vitally important in Cobra (page 61), which features the United States 2nd and 3rd Armored Divisions.
