Guards Tank Battalion (SUAB04)

While the T-34 medium tank remains the mainstay of the tank forces a new tank is starting to make its mark. The new T-34/85 is a major improvement on the earlier model, having a new turret with thicker armour mounting a long 85mm gun. This tank is more than a match for the fascist Mark IV tanks, and approaches the massive Panther tank in its killing power.

Comrades Forward!
The Komissar is there to inspire, though sometimes it is at gun point.

Any Soviet company entirely equipped with Tank teams joined by Brigada Komissar M A Dedov may re-roll any
Motivation Tests it and its members are required to make.

When leading a platoon (Soviet company) with other types of teams in it, Brigada Komissar M A Dedov uses the Komissar special rules on page 142 of Red Bear. However, if you roll a 1 for the new Motivation Test the platoon (Soviet Company) does not destroy Brigada Komissar M A Dedov, he instead becomes Bailed Out as he retreats back into his tank turret away from the angry soldiers.

Wide Tracks
Some excellent tank designs have successfully utilised wider tracks, allowing them to cross almost any terrain.

If a vehicle with Wide Tracks becomes Bogged Down while attempting to cross Rough Terrain, roll again. On a roll of 4+ the vehicle immediately frees itself and continues moving.
Guards Tank Battalion (SUAB04) Guards Tank Battalion (SUAB04)
Limited Vision
In order to pack more into small tanks, some tank designers reduced the crew to a minimum and severely
limited the number of vision devices. Thus, the tanks require the commander to operate as a somewhat vision-impaired gunner as well.

Tanks with Limited Vision add +1 to the score required to hit when shooting any weapon except an AA MG at
targets that are entirely behind a line drawn across the front of the tank’s turret before they rotate their turret to face the target.

Tanks with Limited Vision must rotate their turret to point straight ahead when they move.

Fast Tank
Tanks based on Christie’s design are built around exceptionally powerful engines and flexible suspensions and can really move when the throttle’s opened up.

Fast tanks can move up to 32”/80cm At the Double. However, they still only go 12”/30cm during normal movement.

Assembling The Hull
Step 1. Begin assembly by attaching the tracks to the hull of the T-34.

Note: Each track has been keyed to correspond with a particular side of the hull; this aids in ensuring the correct orientation of the tracks when assembling the miniature.
Below: The correct alignment for the left-hand side track. Below: The correct alignment for the right-hand side track. Below: The left-hand side track attached to the hull.

Tip: When referring to left or right-hand side in regards to a Flames Of War miniature, the orientation is determined as if looking at the vehicle from the rear.
Below: The right-hand side track attached to the hull. Step 2. Next, attach the mudguards to the front of the hull.

Tip: You can use either the square or round mudguards when assembling your miniatures.
