Assembling the Romanian Infantry Battalion

Romanian Infantry Battalion (RBX01) Assembling the Romanian Infantry Battalion
with Mark Hazell

A Romanian soldier may lead a simple life but he knows how to fight and is very courageous in the face of the enemy. With a mixture of riflemen and machine-guns a Romanian Puscasi (Rifle) Company can hold their own against attacking enemy infantry, or advance and seize an objective.

The Contents

Firstly let’s take a look at the contents of the Romanian Rifle Battalion box set; contact the customer service team at [email protected] if you have any issues with any of the components.

The Romanian Rifle Battalion contains 133 infantry figures. This give you enough figures to make up 5 Command teams, 1 Soviet Komissar team, 24 Rifle/MG teams and 4 HMG teams. Also included are 4 optional Panzerfaust figures and 4 optional Panzerknacker figures along with 6 small bases and 28 medium bases.

Begin by opening up the box and sorting out all the figures as per the contents pictures below. Once you have checked that you have the correct number of figures you can start building the platoons.

The Units
Headquarters
Battalion Headquarters

The Battalion Headquarters is made up of a Company Command Rifle team and a 2iC Command Rifle team. The Company Command Rifle team is made up of an Officer figure, an NCO figure and a Rifleman figure modelled on a small base. The 2iC Command Rifle team should be made up an Officer figure and two riflemen figures modelled on a small base.

An optional extra to the Battalion Headquarters in the Soviet Battalion Komissar team, this is made up of the Soviet Komissar figure and the Soviet SMG figure. Once more, these are modelled on a small base.
Combat Platoons

Puscasi Company

You get two Puscasi Companies and an additional eight stand platoon in the company box.  Each Puscasi Company contains nine stands if infantry, each made up of a Command Rifle/MG Team and eight stands of Rifle/MG teams. The Command stand should be a small base with an Officer figure, an NCO figure and a Rifleman figure. You also get the upgrade option if you chose to make the Command Rifle/MG into a Command Panzerfaust SMG team. This can be done by replacing the Rifleman figure on the Command team base with a Panzerfaust figure. The eight stands of Rifle/MG teams should be constructed in this manner: two of the teams should be made with a mix of four Riflemen figures and an NCO figure; four teams should have four Riflemen and one LMG figure and the remaining two stands should have five Riflemen figures. All of the Rifle/MG teams are modelled on the medium base.

The additional platoon is made up exactly the same except it contains no Command team.

Puscasi Machine-gun Platoon

The Puscasi Machine-gun Platoon is made up of four HMG teams consisting of a gunner, a loader and an extra figure which can be a kneeling or prone Rifleman. The platoon also has a Command Rifle team made up of an Officer figure, an NCO figure and a Rifleman figure.

Now you’re ready to strike back at the German and Hungarian forces and reclaim Romania’s lost territory.

As always have fun.
